For the past few years we’ve run a “Hempler’s Doubles” fundraising campaign with the Seattle Mariners. We committed to donating $50 to Make-A-Wish locally for each double hit by the Mariners over the course of a season – and in 2019, they hit it out of the park. By the end of the season they’d racked up a donation of over $12,000 – which was enough to fund at least one wish in its entirety!
Our gift was given in honor of wish kids like four-year-old Aubriella whose childhood has been marked by doctor’s appointments, treatment protocols, and hospital stays due to cancer. Her wish is to visit her favorite theme park, and we can’t wait for her to realize her wish!
Research shows that a wish can improve an ill child’s quality of life and even foster improved health outcomes. But just as importantly, this trip will allow Aubriella and her family to step away from their current reality and to step into the world of laughter and making memories together.
Alyssa, Aubriella’s mother, explained how this trip will allow them to enjoy life together, live in the moment, and escape the stress that they deal with every day. Alyssa continues, “We have been taught how valuable life is, how fast something can change and that nothing is promised. We have learned to be more present and more patient.”
Currently, wish travel is postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We look forward to the return to normal for many reasons, and granting Aubriella’s wish is at the top of that list!
Aubriella, we couldn’t be more honored to support children like you who need a dose of hope, strength and joy. We can’t wait to hear about all the fun memories you make on your trip!
