This onion dip featuring bacon is creamy, slightly tangy and will leave you craving just one more bite. Perfect for game days or casual gatherings, this homemade rendition of a classic grocery store favorite won’t be sticking around the table for long. We love this onion dip!  With the tasty addition of bacon, quick to prepare and impossible to resist, this onion dip is sure to steal the show and leave your guests craving more.

Ingredients

8 slices Hempler’s bacon
3 yellow onions, thinly sliced
2 tablespoons butter
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons sugar
1 cup white wine
12 ounces sour cream
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 tablespoon fresh parsley, minced
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Cook bacon until crispy. Cool and crumble.
  2. Heat the butter in a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add the onions, sprinkle with salt and sugar, and saute for 10-15 minutes, stirring every few minutes. Pour a little bit of wine in and let it sizzle out. Continue to stir, add some wine, sizzle, and repeat. After about 30 minutes, your onions should be deeply golden brown and fragrant. Cool and coarsely chop.
  3. Mix cream cheese and sour cream in a medium bowl until smooth. Set aside two tablespoons of bacon; stir the remaining bacon, chopped onion, parsley, and Worcestershire sauce into the cream cheese mixture. 
  4. Put the onion dip into a serving bowl and garnish with remaining crispy bacon. 
  5. Serve alongside your favorite chips, and get ready to dip!
