1 tablespoon olive oil
2 yellow onions, peeled and thinly sliced
1 teaspoon salt
4 hot dog buns
4 ounces cream cheese, softened
Preheat the grill to medium heat.
Split each hot dog or sausage lengthwise, keeping 2 halves together.
Heat a pan on medium-high heat. Add oil, onions, salt, and sauté for 5-10 minutes until softened and golden. Set aside.
Grill the dogs for about 2 minutes per side or until heated through and lightly browned or charred. Set aside and keep warm.
Toast buns over the warm grill for a few minutes, keeping a close eye on them.
It’s time to eat! Add hot dogs to warm buns. Add grilled onions to the side. Add softened cream cheese to the other side. Then top with sauerkraut, if using.
