There are hot dogs, and then there’s the 4th of July hot dogs. Time to wow the crowd with these Hempler’s Seattle-Style Franks.

For those wondering, a Seattle-style hot dog, sometimes called a Seattle Dog, is a hot dog topped with cream cheese and sautéed onions and served in a bun. These dogs are famous for being at game-day food carts in Seattle.

This 4th of July, you don’t have to travel to Washington to sample these delicious dogs. Check out our recipe for a holiday-winning hot dog.

Split each hot dog or sausage lengthwise, keeping 2 halves together.

Heat a pan on medium-high heat. Add oil, onions, salt, and sauté for 5-10 minutes until softened and golden. Set aside.

Grill the dogs for about 2 minutes per side or until heated through and lightly browned or charred. Set aside and keep warm.
