IT Specialist

REPORTS TO:

Systems and Software Engineer

GENERAL SUMMARY:

We are seeking an experienced IT Specialist to serve as the primary point of contact for all IT-related issues within our plant environment. This role will be instrumental in resolving technical issues, routing and escalating tickets, and ensuring smooth operations of end-user computing devices.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in enterprise networking, customer service, and troubleshooting in a dynamic environment. As the IT Specialist, you will work closely with users and help support the organization's technology needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven experience with enterprise networking, including configuring and troubleshooting switches, patch panels, and wireless 802.11ax networks.
  • Hands-on experience with Active Directory administration, user management, and troubleshooting in an enterprise environment.
  • Strong customer service skills, with experience providing direct technical support to end users and resolving complex IT issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot a wide range of IT problems and find solutions quickly and effectively.
  • Evidence of continued growth and development in the IT field, including certifications or additional training.
  • Knowledge of hardware, software, and networking principles in a business or industrial setting.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • prioritize tasks and manage multiple issues simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Cisco CCNA are a plus.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or plant-floor environment is a plus.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for all IT issues, providing timely and effective resolutions to problems reported by users on the plant floor.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to enterprise networking, including switches, patch panels, wireless 802.11ax, and VLANs.
  • Administer and troubleshoot within an enterprise environment, particularly related to Active Directory (AD), user account management, and permissions.
  • Provide support for end-user computing devices, including desk setups, relocations, and ensuring proper installation and configuration of hardware/software.
  • Effectively route and escalate support tickets when necessary, ensuring issues are addressed in a timely manner and within established service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Ensure the smooth operation of IT systems and networks, including maintaining uptime and ensuring optimal performance.
  • Continuously improve personal knowledge and skills, staying up-to-date with the latest technologies and industry trends to contribute to continuous organizational growth and development.
  • Provide excellent customer service, demonstrating patience, effective communication, and problem-solving skills when interacting with end users.
  • Assist with other IT-related tasks and projects as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Works in an office or meeting room setting.
  • Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
  • Uses appropriate safety equipment and follows safety policies, practices and procedures.
  • May attend meetings or performs duties outside normal office hours.
  • May occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.

  • Ability to frequently reach with hands and arms; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.

PAY RANGE:

$26.00 - $30.00/hour subject to all required taxes and withholdings.
