LOCATION: Ferndale, WA – **Must currently live in the greater Bellingham area.

Our quality products have a heritage dating back to the early 1800’s at the Hempler’s family sausage kitchen in Borken, Germany. Hans Hempler worked in the family sausage business in Germany as a youngster. He served as an apprentice sausage maker and learned first-hand the family’s old secret recipes becoming a master sausage maker before moving to the United States. Hans came to the United States in 1928 and, in those early years, worked hard and saved his money. We’re looking for a Bilingual Learning & Development Specialist who thrives at the intersection of training, operations, and collaboration. In this highly influential role, you’ll design, coordinate, and sustain training programs that drive operational consistency, safety, quality, and compliance across the organization. Acting as a key connector between HR, Safety, Quality Control (QC), and Operations, you’ll ensure training content reflects real‑world processes, regulatory requirements, and leadership expectations—before it ever reaches the floor. If you enjoy translating complex processes into clear, effective learning experiences and partnering closely with leaders to make training stick, this role offers meaningful impact and visibility.

  • *Strong ability to communicate and train in a bilingual environment (English/Spanish preferred)

SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday 8:00AM – 4:30PM (Some flexibility, Will require aligning hours with shifts to provide support during process observations and implementation).

Wage: $81,000.00 – $85,000.00 annually, subject to all required taxes and withholdings.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Training Needs Assessment & Process Understanding

  • *Develop and maintain a working understanding of core operational processes across departments, including:
    • *HR processes (onboarding, policies, job expectations)
    • *Safety programs (training requirements, procedures, compliance needs)
    • *Quality Control standards and documentation
    • *Key operational workflows and job functions
  • *Partner directly with supervisors and managers to assess current and emerging training needs.
  • *Identify gaps between documented processes and actual practice.
  • *Prioritize training initiatives based on risk, compliance, operational impact, and leadership input.

 

Training Design & Development

  • *Design clear, practical training content that aligns with company processes and expectations.
  • *Translate complex procedures into accessible, role-specific training materials.
  • *Develop training using multiple formats, including:
    • *Alchemy-based digital training modules
    • *Classroom or in-person training outlines
    • *Job aids, checklists, and process guides
  • *Ensure training materials are accurate, consistent, and aligned with current policies and procedures in both English and Spanish.
  • *Maintain version control and documentation of training content.

 

Alchemy Training Platform Management

  • *Maintain working knowledge of the Alchemy training system and its application across departments.
  • *Work with Training Coordinator on establishing assignment, tracking, and completion of required training within Alchemy for new/ updated training content.
  • *Partner with HR, Safety, QC and Operations to ensure training assignments align with job roles.
  • *Support troubleshooting and user support related to training access and completion.
  • *Use training data to identify trends, gaps, or areas needing reinforcement.

 

Onboarding & Role-Based Training Support

  • *Working closely with training coordinator to ensure new hire training continually meets the needs for the various roles.
  • *Support in facilitation and coordination of training during peak seasons, vacations and occasionally as needed

 

Leadership Engagement & Communication

  • *Proactively engage in leadership prior to training implementation to ensure:
    • *Awareness of upcoming training

 

Supervisor & Manager Partnership

  • *Work directly with supervisors and managers on:
    • *Evaluate team training needs
    • *Develop department-specific training plans
    • *Support consistent application of training expectations
  • *Provide coaching and guidance to leaders on reinforcing training and accountability.
  • *Support leaders in addressing performance or compliance gaps through targeted training.

 

Continuous Improvement & Program Evaluation

  • *Monitor training effectiveness through feedback, observation, and data review.
  • *Adjust training content and delivery based on operational feedback and outcomes.
  • *Participate in audits, reviews, or evaluations related to training compliance.
  • *Support continuous improvement initiatives by aligning training with evolving processes and standards.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • *Degree in human resources, business or related field is a plus, but not required. Relevant professional experience will be considered in place of formal education.
  • *2 – 4 years of experience in training coordination, learning & development, HR, Safety, or operations.
  • *Strong understanding of how training supports operational consistency and compliance.
  • *Experience working cross-functionally with HR, Safety, QC, and Operations teams.
  • *Must have strong communication in English and Spanish.
  • *Ability to translate complex processes into clear training content.
  • *Proven ability to work directly with supervisors and managers.
  • *Strong organization, coordination and follow-through skills.
  • *Working knowledge of the Alchemy training platform.
  • *Experience supporting onboarding programs.
  • *Familiarity with safety, quality, or regulatory training environments.
  • *Experience in manufacturing or food processing environments.
  • *Performs other related duties as assigned.
